Antarctica
In Lynne Deutch's photographic series, Antarctica, her standard subjects are nowhere to be found. In place of the documentary-style studies of humans, are colonies of penguins and massive, abstract sections of ice. These topics appear to be a far cry from her typical work, both geographically and allegorically yet, Lynne is still able to capture the delicacies of her subjects, bringing them closer to the viewer and thus, closer to our reality.
Lynne finds a gentle moment of mother and baby penguin in a field of thousands, and captures the delicate, rippling textures of sea ice exposed to constant sub-zero temperatures and pounding winds. Lynne Deutch's material may sometimes change but her goals remain constant.
