Capri, Faraglioni, 2018

Stella, Faraglione di Mezzo and Scopolo from Giardini di Augusto

According to Homer, these sea giants were hurled by Polyphemus.

Virgil in the Aeneid indicates them as the place where the sirens lived, lethal creatures for all sailors who let themselves be enchanted by their song. The poet inextricably linked the monoliths to his work, the Aeneid, in particular to the myth of the sirens.

This is exactly where the beautiful creatures, half woman and half fish, may have lived.
